At the joint meeting of the 19th Annual International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) and the 10th European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB), the BALL team of Saarland University received the "Art and Science" Award for its contribution "Reflections on Protein Structures".

At the 12th Annual Bioinformatics Open Source Conference (BOSC 2011)in Vienna, Prof. Dr. Andreas Hildebrandt, former research at CBI Saar, now full professor at Johannes-Gutenberg university Mainz and a principal investigator at the Intel Visual Computing Institute, received the best presentation award for his talk "The BALL project: The Biochemical Algorithms Library (BALL) for Rapid Application Development in Structural Bioinformatics and its graphical user interface BALLView".

On Wednesday, July 13, 2011, Prof. Dr. Thomas Höfer (German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg) will give a talk in the context of the CBI Distinguished Speaker Series. The talk is entitled "Dynamic regulatory networks of gene expression" and will be held in Room 001, CBI (Building E 2.1) at 17:00 (sharp).
