General information about the master’s program at Saarland University can be found on the new master’s portal.

The master’s program complements and deepens the previous bachelor’s program. It prepares students for research and development work in the field of bioinformatics.

The standard study period is four semesters.

Admission Requirements

Admission requirements are the general or subject-linked university entrance qualification (or a comparable certificate thereof) as well as the certificate of the passed bachelor’s examination in the study program Bioinformatics at Saarland University or the proof of another equivalent examination (see Examination Regulations, §12). Applications for the study of Bioinformatics in Saarbrücken applications are made via the application portal of the computer science programs (see Applications). The application deadline for the winter semester is May 15 and for the summer semester November 15 each year.

The following sample timetable contains more detailed information about the type and scope of the courses as well as recommendations for an expedient structure of the study program. In addition to the specification of the semester hours per week (SWS), the points to be earned according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) are listed, which allow transfer from and to other universities in Germany and abroad.
