Bachelor’s Degree Program

General

The Bachelor’s program provides a basic scientific qualification in bioinformatics as well as the necessary knowledge of life sciences and computer science.

Graduates of the bachelor’s program are enabled able to understand life science problems and issues, model them mathematically, and apply scientific methods and knowledge of bioinformatics to these problems. The degree is designed to prepare students for professional practice in the field of bioinformatics.

The standard period of study is six semesters.

Admission Requirements

Necessary prerequisite for the application is the general university entrance qualification or an equivalent university entrance qualification. Applications for the study of Bioinformatics in Saarbrücken are addressed to the Department of Student Affairs of the University (see Applications). The application deadline for the winter semester is September 30, for the summer semester March 31.

The following sample timetables contain more detailed information about the type and scope of courses as well as recommendations for an appropriate structure of the studies for both Bachelor majors. In addition, the points to be earned according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) are listed on the right, allowing transfer from and to other universities in Germany and abroad.
