What no one can do yet – The Center for Bioinformatics in the Saarbrücker Zeitung

Tightly Connected

From CISPA, it is only a few minutes' walk to the Center for Bioinformatics (ZBI), the next stop on this exploratory tour. The names of the institutes on both sides of Stuhlsatzenhausweg speak for themselves: on the left, the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS), on the right, the Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing (IZFP) and the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems. Just behind them is the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science. Concentrated expertise in a very small space. And closely networked.

Three faculties of Saar University joined forces to found the ZBI 18 years ago, as Managing Director Pia Scherer-Geiß explains: the Medical Faculty, the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science.
