The following is a list of the requirements, deadlines, and formalities that you must observe if you wish to begin or continue your studies in bioinformatics at Saarland University.

Admission Requirements

The Bachelor’s program is not subject to admission restrictions. The Master’s program, however, is subject to admission restrictions. If you want to apply for the Master program, please read the information for the master`s program first.

Necessary Requirements for the Application

  • …for the Bachelor’s and Master’s program:
    General university entrance qualification or an equivalent university entrance qualification. 

  • ….additionally for the Master’s program:
    Certificate of a passed Bachelor’s examination in the Bioinformatics program of Saarland University or proof of another equivalent examination (see common examination regulations, §12).

Application Deadline and Documents

The bachelor’s program is not subject to admission restrictions; enrollment is possible directly until September 30 for the winter semester and until March 31 for the summer semester. The application deadline for the Master’s program is May 15 (for the winter semester) and November 15 (for the summer semester).

The application for the Master’s program is done via an online form. The necessary documents (application for admission, curriculum vitae, copies of certificates, list of courses attended with corresponding number of hours per week, credit points as well as grades) can be uploaded there.
